OUR FOUNDER - SHAWN
Shawn Kelly, born in Youngstown, OH, graduated from Youngstown State University (YSU), where the penguin mascot dressed in winter clothes, inspired his own surfing penguin logo for The Twisted Penguin. Growing up, Shawn was fascinated by surfing culture despite living far from any ocean. His dream was to attend UCLA, but ended up thriving at YSU instead. In 2016, after struggling to find accounting work locally, Shawn relocated to Wilmington, NC. Eventually, he settled in Cherry Grove with his fiancée, Corinne, and opened The Twisted Penguin, aiming to weave his business into the fabric of the community.

What are your operating hours?
We are open seven days a week. Our restaurant and bar operates from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. After 9:00 PM, our menu is limited to pizzas.
